What Are Microgreens?

SUPERFOOD

All vegetables we eat started as a microgreen! These superfood are the baby versions of vegetables and herbs, harvested just 10 to 21 days after germination.

What makes microgreens so special?

They often have higher levels of vitamins, carotenoids, minerals and antioxidants compared to the same quantity of their mature versions (1,2). Let's not forget the FLAVOR - these baby greens have a bolder, more vibrant taste, often stronger than the adult plant.

sustainable

Microgreens are grown in reusable trays, making efficient use of small, vertical spaces and requiring significantly less water compared to larger crops.  At Kyrios Farm Microgreens, we take sustainability seriously. We compost our growing medium and follow organic practices, using NO chemical fertilizers or pesticides to ensure natural and healthy product. They are produced year-round, reducing the dependency on the traditional food supply chain. They are locally grown, harvested fresh and delivered straight to your doorstep.

HEALTHY

Microgreens pack a powerful nutritional punch! Studies (3, 4) show that these tiny greens can be 4 to 40 times more nutrient-dense than their fully grown versions. Rich in antioxidants (5), they may help protect against various diseases and support heart health by lowering LDL, the "bad" cholesterol. (6, 7). They are also loaded with macro minerals like calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as micro minerals such as iron, zinc and copper.  Plus, they are packed with B vitamins, essential amino acids, folate, and more!

CONVENIENT

Microgreens are easy to add to any meal. You don't need to be a chef to transform every meal into a gourmet dish that tastes delicious and looks amazing. If kept refrigerated it can last as long as 3 weeks without loosing its flavor or freshness. You don't need to cut or cook them, just grab your microgreens and add them to smoothies, salads, soups, sandwiches or or even enjoy them as a healthy snack!

How to Keep Your Microgreens Fresh Longer

To keep your microgreens fresh and lasting longer, store them in the refrigerator as soon as you receive them. Avoid excess moisture by placing a dry paper towel in the container to absorb humidity. Our microgreens are grown in a clean, controlled environment using strict food safety practices, so they technically don’t need to be washed. However, we recommend gently rinsing them just before use, not before storing, to prevent wilting. Properly stored, your microgreens can stay fresh for up to 2 weeks, retaining their flavor and nutrients.

How to Use Microgreens

Microgreens are incredibly versatile and can be used in a variety of ways to enhance your meals. Sprinkle them on salads, sandwiches, or wraps for added flavor and texture. They also make a nutritious addition to smoothies, omelets, and soups, giving a touch of color and freshness to your meals.
